Join SRLT, Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation & Parks, and South River Federation at our second South River Greenway BioBlitz at the Bacon Ridge Natural Area in Crownsville!

The BioBlitz occurs over a 24-hour period where scientists of various disciplines offer their expertise to gain a snapshot of the flora, fauna, and other taxa within the parkland.  In addition to an information gathering opportunity, the BioBlitz serves as an educational tool for volunteers, a promoter of scientific awareness, a networking opportunity for experts and staff, and a chance to have fun in the field.  Volunteers can join for one session or the whole 24 hours.

Saturday, September 18th
10:30 am Early Registration
11:45 am Opening Remarks
Noon - 4 pm Butterflies, Fish, Plants, Reptiles & Amphibians
3:30 pm: Mid-Day Registration
4 - 8 pm: Plants, Reptiles & Amphibians
8 pm - Midnight - Owls, Insects

Sunday, September 19th
7:30 am Sunday Registration
8 am - Noon Birds, Plants, Reptiles & Amphibians
Noon BioBlitz Tally Rally

No identification skills are required -- just enthusiasm for exploring the natural world. If accompanied by an adult, children over 10 are encouraged. Wear sturdy hiking shoes and dress for the weather, this event is rain or shine. Light refreshments provided.
