Protecting Anne Arundel County’s Land and Water

Conservation Projects

Protected lands are strengthened when clustered with other protected lands. While we accept easements throughout all six watersheds, we focus much of our efforts on three large-scale conservation priority areas.

We work with landowners in this area to put conservation easements on their property in order to help preserve the rural and natural character for which the area is known.

The 900+ acre Bacon Ridge Natural Area is a true natural gem with expansive marshes, mature forests, and at the center, its namesake creek Bacon Ridge Branch.

Southern Anne Arundel County, known locally as South County, consists of gently rolling farmland from the Patuxent River to the Rhode River and also contains extensive tidal, fresh and forested wetlands.
