2024 Annual Report: A Milestone Year of Growth & Celebration

Scenic Rivers reflects on year of meaningful milestones in latest impact report

Our Annual Report offers a chance to highlight key accomplishments in land protection across Anne Arundel County, and 2024 was truly a remarkable year of GROWTH for Scenic Rivers!

We successfully conserved two incredible properties in Anne Arundel County—a beloved family forest in Crownsville and a truly pristine forest and wetlands in Pasadena—totaling 84 acres conserved and 80 conservation easements.

We monitored each of these 80 conservation easements—now covering over 3,800 acres across the county—fulfilling our duty as a nationally accredited land trust. Speaking of which …

We were awarded reaccreditation from the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, proving that as a land trust we have sound finances, practice ethical conduct and responsible governance, and can ensure lasting stewardship.

We released our new Strategic Plan, charting a path toward ambitious conservation goals, deeper community engagement, and long-term sustainability.

And, we added THREE new staff members to our ranks—Josh Falk, Erin Kilbane, and Luke Lanham. We are now more equipped than ever to steward the lands we protect and engage with more members of our community to connect them to these beautiful, conserved lands.

Our Healthy Forests Program at Bacon Ridge Natural Area continues to grow and engage more community members with the protected woods that lie in the heart of our county. Volunteers spent over 240 hours stewarding Bacon Ridge Natural Area and removed over 800 pounds of non-native invasive plant material from the forest understory.

And we celebrated 35 years of land conservation! Friends, partners, and supporters joined us for our 35th Anniversary Conservation Celebration to recognize Scenic Rivers’ 35 years of conserving Anne Arundel County’s beautiful natural spaces, and the people who protect them.

And these are the just highlights! Every big moment is built on countless small acts of dedication.

From growth to celebration, the common thread is YOU—our incredible community of landowners, board members, partners, donors, supporters and friends. Read on to see how your support moved the needle.
