Sarah Knebel

Executive Director

Promoted to Executive Director in August 2019, Sarah joined Scenic Rivers in early 2015. Working with the sixteen-member board of directors and two part-time staff, Sarah directs Scenic Rivers’ easement and stewardship programs and oversees its growing portfolio of over 65 easements covering over 3,100 acres.  Sarah lead Scenic Rivers through the national accreditation process, which it was awarded in August 2019 by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, and has been instrumental in finding and managing projects suitable for the  Chesapeake Bay Trust Anne Arundel County Forestry and Forested Land Protection Grant Program.

She is the former co-founder and environmental lead for Oxen, Inc., which created a sustainable local farm to door online delivery service. She is a former program manager for the Severn Riverkeeper Program where she concentrated on communications, water quality monitoring and volunteer restoration activities. She was also a naturalist at Patapsco Valley State Park. Sarah has a BS in Environmental Science and Policy with a concentration in Environmental Restoration and Management from the University of Maryland, College Park.
